About StockingMap

StockingMap is a reference for anglers: fish stocking schedules and reports for all fifty states, a national map of stocked waters, live water levels and temperatures where a gauge reports them, the state record book, and a page for every water the trucks visit. It exists to answer one question well: where should I fish this week?

What the site holds

As of this morning's build: 6,244 pages, covering 5,685 stocked waters across 50 states, with 383 county pages and 33 species pages over a record of 149,039 stocking entries from the state agencies. 632 of those waters sit on a USGS gauge, so their pages carry the live reading alongside the stocking record. The record book lists 458 state record fish from 9 states, each linked to the water it came from when that water has a page. Every number on this page is recomputed at build time.

Ways to follow it

Beyond the pages themselves: RSS and iCal calendar feeds for 41 states and 296 counties, a printable schedule for the shop wall in every dated-data state, daily best bets and state fishing-forecast pages (35 states), the weekly national digest, and a free embeddable widget for club and bait shop sites.

Where the data comes from

The data comes from the state fish and wildlife agencies' own publications. Schedules change without notice, sometimes the morning of the stocking, so check the agency's page before a long drive. Seasons, regulations, and license requirements are the agency's department, not ours. This site is not affiliated with any state agency.
